I honestly didn't notice they edited Ruby out if the Crisis clip. I was more surprised that Melissa Benoist didn't zoom or Instagram in a comment. She is very active in social media and I found it extremely odd.

I actually noted that as they avoided showing her constantly since the news got out that she left.
I noticed that last year during the DC Fandome already.
So I wasn't surprised that she wasn't in here as I saw the Superman&Lois premiere.
They must be still pretty angry about her leaving the show.
Which I can understand.
I mean she leaves after season 1, that could have easily killed the whole show.
Pretty sure there are still hard feelings about that departure.
Luckily they decided to go on with the show :)

Ruby Rose's Batwoman Edited Out of Crisis on Infinite Earths Scene in Arrowverse Special

During a new Arrowverse special for Superman & Lois on The CW, Ruby Rose's Batwoman gets edited out of a scene in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

BY ANDY BEHBAKHT
PUBLISHED 7 HOURS AGO

Ruby Rose's Batwoman has been edited out from a "Crisis on Infinite Earths" scene highlighted during a new Arrowverse special. Last year came with some shake-ups for The CW's big DC TV universe. Not only was Arrow coming to an end with its eighth and final season, but the franchise executed its biggest crossover yet. After years of building towards it, the Arrowverse finally adapted the infamous Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline. Taking place across all six shows over five episodes, the shared DC TV franchise took on its ultimate Multiverse storyline of all time. Besides that, the event featured various cameos from legacy players in other DC TV shows and movies to highlight the larger live-action Multiverse.

The five-part event also became a bit of a reset for the Arrowverse going forward while extending its longevity. However, another big change came several months later at the end of Batwoman season 1. After having portrayed Kate Kane for over a year, Rose exited the series with the Australian actress and Warner Bros. TV, as well as The CW, parting ways. The creators then created the character of Ryan Wilder played by Javicia Leslie to become the new Batwoman. Kate's fate, however, remains a mystery as she disappeared at the start of Batwoman season 2. However, despite that, a recent Arrowverse special made an awkward move in relation to Rose's Batwoman.

Earlier this week, Superman & Lois officially premiered on The CW as the latest Arrowverse spinoff. Following its extended series premiere, The CW aired a 30-minute special featuring the cast and producers of the series as well as other Arrowverse members. The special also featured a clip segment with various moments from other Arrowverse shows across the last few seasons, including the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. The "Crisis on Infinite Earths" scene highlighted came from the fifth hour of the crossover and features Earth-Prime's Justice League - but Rose's Batwoman is mysteriously absent. In the original scene, Kate is seen standing in between the Martian Manhunter and White Canary. Check out a comparison of the scene as it aired originally and from the special, below:

It is unclear at this point why The CW would edit out Rose from that scene in "Crisis on Infinite Earths". Even if Kate's no longer in the franchise, it doesn't change the fact Rose's character was still in the crossover and in that specific moment. Whether or not it'd be due to legal reasons remains to be seen, but it'd be a possibility. Either way, it doesn't make it any less awkward to erase Rose's character, no matter what. They'd have easily shown a different shot from the crossover where Kate wasn't in it at all. It'd have been just as weird to edit out Melissa Benoist's Supergirl, David Harewood's Martian Manhunter, and Cress Williams' Black Lightning just because those shows are ending this year.

The Superman & Lois special did still showcase Leslie's new Batwoman, which is only appropriate as she's the new lead of that show. But if that specific shot from "Crisis on Infinite Earths" had to be in there, it's only fair that Rose's character got to remain in it. Kate may never come back to Batwoman and the rest of the Arrowverse, but it doesn't erase her history before Rose departed the series.

I figured The Doorman had to be filmed pre- Batwoman, as she basically got zero recoup time from surgery before going back to Batwoman and then Covid hit before they finished filming the season.

I may watch later on VOD if power doesn't go out. Unfortunately, we have yet another hurricane heading for the Gulf Coast.

I already saw "The Doorman".
Pretty good action flick, not always realistic, not always logical...but quite a good movie after all.
Pretty sure it was made prior to Batwoman, it was a long time in post production for whatever reason.

Back then she had pretty much the same haircut as Kate, nowadays her hair is even shorter than mine.....:o

Life after Batwoman...

The Doorman starring Ruby Rose is being released as a VOD today. Due to the theater situation associated with Covid-19, it is going the VOD/streaming route.

I am not sure when she made this movie... between the Batwoman schedule, her back surgery and Covid-19, I wouldn't have thought it possible. Perhaps it was filmed prior to Batwoman?

Yeah, I figured the reason she left the show had to be health-related. Especially since she was favoring her right side throughout that final episode (maybe a re-injury?). Thanks for posting that link, @comic fan

TV Line has new comments on why Ruby Rose left Batwoman.

https://tvline.com/2020/08/11/ruby-rose-batwoman-exit-season-2-back-injury-surgery/

Last fall, Rose shared via Instagram a (graphic) video of said surgery, which fixed two herniated discs that she says “were close to severing my spinal cord.” Just 10 days later, she told EW.com, she was back to work as a costumed crimefighter.

“Being the lead of a superhero show is tough. Being the lead in anything is tough,” Rose cops in the new interview. “But I think, in that particular instance, it was a lot more difficult because I was still recovering from my surgery. I had my surgery and then 10 days later I went to work, which maybe wasn’t the best idea. Most people take about a month or three off before they return to work.”

When Batwoman wrapped its freshman run several episodes early due to the pandemic/production shutdown, Rose said that the time then spent in quarantine gave all involved time to think. “It was a great opportunity to have a dialogue about a lot of things [with the producers],” she said. “I respect them so much and they’ve been so respectful to me.”

Looking to her own future, Rose said, “I would definitely do [TV] again. I just think that it was also time for me to take a break to fully heal and then return.” And as for the future adventures of Batwoman, to be played by Javicia Leslie (God Friended Me) as a new character named Ryan Wilder? “She seems fantastic,” Rose said of her successor, who is bisexual and the first Black actress to play a live-action Batwoman. “Honestly, I was so proud and so happy when I was told who would be replacing me…. I’m definitely going to watch the next season as well and see how it all comes together.”

Perhaps I should just pick an actress and say "she is reportedly being eyed to become to new Batwoman" on a post over at my Blog.
:D :D :D

I read somewhere the height for the new character was mentioned as 5' 3"
At the height, there's no freakin' way she can fit in the Batsuit! And given Batwoman uses mostly hand-to-hand, that suit would need an exoskeleton to convince me that someone that short could take down someone the size of the Executioner!
As a comparison, Ruby is 5'7", Melissa is 5'8", Chyler Leigh is 5'6.5", Caity Lotz is 5'6", Katie Cassidy is 5'7.7", Juliana Harkavy is 5'8", Willa Holland is 5'6", Katherine McNamara is the shortest at 5'4.5" ... I know with martial arts, it's not the size or muscle that's important, but I think any shorter, and they're asking us to not just suspend our disbelief, but throw it completely down the disposal!

@Siggi

I know I read somewhere the height for the new character was mentioned as 5' 3" and thought it was odd. But, I'm not sure which one... as I have read so many rehashes of it. I remember because I said said to myself definitely "sidekick" when I read it.

Like, i said previously, I am still in denial they will actually replace Kate as Batwoman... perhaps the new character will attempt to step into Batwoman's boots when she is sidelined, making the reports true but misleading? Too much at stake to dump Kate.

^ I neber heard anything about a desired height in the casting call.
In my opinion the new Batwoman should be at least 5'7. (Like Natalie sharp as she is 5'8)
It just looks better if the vigilante has a certain height when she battles all those goons and villains.

@Siggi... didn't the casting call say they were looking for an actress around 5' 3"? I remember reading that somewhere... which made it sound like a sidekick, as opposed to Batwoman. Not that a hero can't be short, but.... I like this actress quite a bit. She has been in a highly publicized heterosexual relationship. As far as I know she only plays LGBTQ on Riverdale, not in real life. But, not certain. Again, she'd probably make a great addition to form a new Dynamic Duo... but definitely not Batwoman. In my opinion...

Yes, it could be click bait fodder.

She is way too small for that role (5'2, 1,60m).
I wonder if some of these articles are just an invention from those pages to get clicks.
