Batwoman was created by Edmond Hamilton and artist Sheldon Moldoff under the direction of editor Jack Schiff. She first appeared in Detective Comics 233 back in 1956! Originally created to be a love interest for Batman, the character was changed several times to adjust to different stories. In 2006, Kate Kane was reintroduced as a lesbian who was inspired by Batman to use her wealth and fighting abilities to better the city of Gotham. In the comics, Kate has been romantically linked to Maggie Sawyer (recently played by Floriana Lima on The CW's Supergirl). Stay tuned as more and more information is released about the live action version of Kate Kane!
