Tonight was the third to last new episode of Batwoman this season! Going into the episode, we have Luke Fox shot near to death, Alice with the sole knowledge that Kate Kane is alive and has been reprogrammed to be Black Mask's daughter, Sophie has left The Crows and Jacob is lost within the clutches of Snake Bite. There is a lot to cover and wrap up this season. The first and most pressing issue is obviously Luke's fate! How does the brains of team Batwoman fair after being shot? Here's what stood out to us:
- Medical Emergency: Luke is rushed to the hospital where he falls into a coma and sees his father. Mary heads to get the desert rose and Ryan suits up as Batwoman to go find the car thief. Jacob asks to review the bodycam footage of the Crow agent that shot Luke. Alice discovers that Enigma is Riddler's daughter and that she was doing research on Mary for Black Mask. Ryan finds the thief and finds out that it was the Crows that shot Luke.
- Bruce Wayne: Luke tries to get his father's attention and he meets Bruce in his vision. Luke has summoned Bruce because Luke has a choice to make. Bruce could be his guide. Ryan discovers which agent shot Luke and Mary is visited by Alice who warns her about Black Mask. Ryan finds Tarkarov and gets the jump on him but a Crow van hits her and he escapes.
- In the Subway: Alice and Ocean discuss their love but Alice wants it all, Ocean and her sister back. The Crows are guarding Lucas' body and won't let Mary in. The Crows have modified the bodycam footage so it looks like Luke had a gun. Sophie tells Ryan that there is a way to get the original footage from the Crows air-gaped server. Ryan blames herself for calling Luke a bystander and not a contributor.
- Luke's Subconscious: Bruce tells Luke that he has a choice to make. He can fight to stay or he can let go and join his father. Sophie heads to Jacob's office to make a plea for Luke. She plants a device to hack the Crows server. Sophie works in the Batcave and someone dressed as a ninja is able to get into Luke's room and administer the desert rose. Jacob hears Sophie and decides to sideline Tarkarov but he chooses to attack Jacob instead of give up his badge.
- Ninja Revealed: Turns out the ninja that gave Luke the desert rose was the art thief from a few episodes ago, Evan Blake. Tarkarov is setting up Jacob to die making it look like a Snake Bite overdose. Batwoman abandons her quest to find the real footage of Luke to save Jacob.
In the final wrap up moments, Jacob holds a press conference to expose Tarkarov and offers to personally testify. He also announces that he is disbanding the Crows organization. Mary and Ryan plead for Luke to wake up in his hospital room. Depressed at how awful the world is Luke finally makes the choice to go to his father but he's waited too long and wakes up in his hospital room. Sophie and Jacob share a moment at the closing of The Crows headquarters. Alice visits Jacob in the now closed Crows office. The pair are now determined to get Kate back.

Quoting CatPat: I think maybe the reason Jacob had NOT pulled the body-cam footage, was because he thought he could trust his people, because surely they've vetted all the employees, right? And he has no reason to trust Luke, someone he doesn't know except as an associate of Kate's. If Sophie did think to save that footage, then she should also have the footage of BW2.0 in the server room. Let's hope she thought to erase that before she left the Crow's HQ! Besides, that footage is only valuable if Jacob presses charges, and even then, they'd only get various assault convictions. I think, now that Tav is unemployed, the Bat Team is going to set him up to fall hard.
A Murder of Crows! That was so apropos!
IKR... TOTALLY AGREE!
Quoting athena69:
Yeah... Mary definitely "in-something" with Luke.
Quoting athena69:
Alice always delivers. Jacob may be skeptical, but he'll believe her. It will be his focus now that he is crow-less.
Quoting athena69:
I was kinda hoping that Jacob had already pulled the Metadata of the body cam footage, as he seemed skeptical that Luke would have a gun. I assume Sophie and Team Bat still has the footage of TeamTav dragging Jacob off. Something needs to stick without question.
Yeah... I am pretty sure both it and Flash have orders of 18 eps this season. Black Lightning, Legends and Stargirl have 13. S&L I think was upped to 15. Only Supergirl got 20, as its the last season.
The remaining THREE episodes are:
#216 -- Rebirth -- airs 2021-06-13
#217 -- Kane, Kate -- airs 2021-06-20
#218 -- Power -- airs 2021-06-27
... unless there's something you know that we don't... ?!?
I liked the "riddle me this" reference to Enigma's father.
I liked those appearances by Bruce Wayne and Wolfspider. Sadly, not even a glimpse of Circe-Kate this week.
The idea of Jacob working with Alice to save Kate should be great for the final stretch of this difficult season.
More Wolfspider please... and bring on Batwing.
The Bruce cameo was an interesting choice, and I liked the explanation for why they didn't have Lucius be the one Luke talked to. Not sure if I believe that Luke was choosing death and to be with his father over life - the explanation of "life is so hard" just didn't seem ... overwhelming enough. But having been pulled back to life when he was ready to call it quits... that's gonna trigger some life changes. For a minute there, I thought we were actually going to meet Luke's mom. The final scene in the hospital room with Mary and Ryan was touching, particularly Mary.
I was not expecting Jacob to shut down Crows Security! That's like, his entire identity! What's Jacob going to do now? Will he take over as Wayne Security once Luke... ? Spoilers! Or maybe, once he and Alice get Kate back, he'll devote himself to being the father that Kate and Alice really needed?
As usual, I loved all the Alice scenes. I love that there is actually a kind of sisterly interaction between Mary and Alice. And that tiniest hint of a smile as the elevator doors closed - nice! The allusion to Evelyn's father without actually saying his name was clever. I have a feeling her relationship with Ocean is not going to last. And that final scene with Jacob - will he believe her this time?!?
Unfortunately, Tavarov did, indeed get off with nothing but getting fired... for now... And without that original body-cam footage, Jacob's word against the fake footage isn't going to fly. But I think ending up in Blackgate, with all those criminals (and falsely-accused innocents) that he put away would be an excellent serving of karma.
Okay, so if getting rammed by an SUV is enough to bruise a few ribs, then getting shot in the hand point blank is going to break a few bones! At least she had the voice modulator on! And Wolfspider/Evan's scenes were way too short!
