[SPOILERS ahead, I recommend that you watch the episode before you continue!]

“General”:
My highlights from this episode (without particular order):
1 – Luke and Batwoman/Kate can rely on each other! Batwoman/Kate talks Luke out of killing the guy who killed his father, that was saved Luke. I am sure he might break apart after he would have done it. It was good for Kate to finally tell Luke the truth about Cartwright. Not only for their relationsship....it also lifted a heavy weight of her. After their talk she will deal with it better.
2 – Kate was afraid of being Batwoman! Not a good thing of course, but I liked how they showed it. Both Kate and Batwoman had panic attacks. Kate doesn't thought she could be the hero anymore. Luckily that was finally changed at the end of the episode. I hope she can deal with the Cartwright murder now much better. However this whole dark conflict in her mind was a great addition to her character, shows again how troublesome she often feels.
3 – Mary finally tells Kate that she know about her being Batwoman! Mary tried to bring Kate to admit it in the last episodes, but that didn't work out. Now, in this desperate situation she told Kate. I wonder how Mary will now help Batwoman in the future. The trailer for the next episodes already leaves some hints.
4 – Mary and Luke....again! Well, the episode had the best comedy scene near the very end. The way Luke tries to pretend that Kate isn't Batwoman....just hilarious! He talks and talks, but as Mary just KNOWS it, he can't convince her at all....

Let's continue with some things I didn't like about this episode. Normally I ignore most of the plot holes in movies. But there were some scenes/aspects that I didn't like in this episode:
- A car with huge barrels and a timer is parked in the pretty empty Wayne Garage. How did it get there without anyone noticing? How does it park there without anyone noticing? I mean the building is pretty empty, but surely the park decks are being watched by Wayne security?
- Batwoman's panic attacks are getting really dangerous. Good that they are hopefully over now. But she does unmask herself twice in the episode. Luckily the the evil crow guy was already unconcious! He could have easily have seen her unmasked face if he had woken up! And in the other scene: Batwoman runs up to the top floor of the building. Why doesn't the crows follow her there? She unmasks there in a pretty dangerous spot! I know she has a panic attack and can't think rational in the moment, but damn, that could have easily killed her vigilante career! What if someone sees her there? What if the crows find her there without her mask on? She would be finished....
- And most importantly: The fact that Mouse kills that doctor. Ok, that is a "smart" move to get control over the situation. But how did he make a face mask without anyone noticing? Where is the body of the doctor? When the Doctor (Mouse now) goes home... does no one notice that Mouse isn't there? What happened to the warden that was in the room when the doctor got killed? If he isn't dead, he knows that Mouse attacked him. All these aspects making the storyline with Mouse becoming the Dr. in a prison...rather hard to believe for me. But perhaps the whole thing will soon be discovered and/or perhaps some issues will be explained in the future.

I really liked the dream scene with Alice and Kate at the beginning. It was fun and unusual to see the sisters playing video games and having a good time. For a moment I thought that it might be a flashback, but after all it was just a dream that turned into a nightmare.
Are Alice and Elliot working together? That would explain why she wasn't really hurt from the attack. And I think they are....as that shiv was clearly visible. I think Elliot wanted Alice to see it.
The scene where Batwoman stops the jewel thief had a great camera sweep as she uses her grapel gun to get to him. I was a little irritated that Batwoman wanted to let him go. Ok, he is "just" a thief, but I would expect her to send him over to the police or the crows. The panic attack as she thinks he is dead....was a pretty emotional scene, loved it!
The fake Batwoman idea was really good! I like that some people want to give hope to the city. It showed Kate how much Batwoman is needed and inspiring people... and that she must continue with her night job.
I am glad to Sophie is a crow again, as her job is so important for her. The teamup with Julia was nice and it will be very interesting to see how they will continue to work together in that task force.
Sophie wasn't in contact with Kate or Batwoman lately, I wonder how that will continue.
I am still not sure about Julia's agenda. Is there something more than just her helping out in Gotham? I did like her pep talk to bring Kate back on her feet.
The villain of the week, was just an ...imposter...in the end. There was no (real) Detonator, just agent Robles that was usued his identity to tie up some loose ends. The idea of having a bomb victim deciding of who would die had a nice touch. Reminded me of TDK, where Joker had pretty much the same idea.
It was a really strong episode for Luke. Not only he had a lot of screentime, it was cool to see another Luke as he trained and confronted the killer of his father. I wonder how he will develop in the next episodes.
The revelation that Batman broke his "no kill" rule himself was a stunner. Especially as it is revealed that he (seemingly) killed .....the JOKER!
I wonder how Alice and Mouse will break out....and when? Seemingly there are not the only ones who want to get out there... ;-) (#Trailer for next episode)

A note regarding the sidekicks:
Oh, I don''t mind having sidekicks in the show. I liked Arrow best as he worked alone and later with "just" Felicity and with Canary.
On tech-guy/woman in the background (Luke?) and one sidekick in the field would maybe my favorite constellation. Off course that depends on the storylines and how they will participate.
But well, I guess we might know more on that after the season. ;)

I guess you ususally find more plot holes than I do ;-)
What can I say? I'm a Programmer, so my brain is geared to finding bugs in the logic. ;P Alas, I find such bugs in EVERY episode, and they drive me nuts (must be the OCD). It seemed to be worse in the earlier episodes. Or maybe, I've become more engaged with the characters so I don't mind as much.

--- Do you think Alice and Elliot are working together?
Hmm, Elliot is such an egomaniac I very much doubt that he asked Alice for her help. But I could see him agreeing, if she asked him for his help, as long as he was getting something out of it. I guess, I don't so much think that they are working together, as they have a mutually beneficial (temporary) arrangement to assist each other, and backstabbing is to be expected. Personally, if I were Alice, I don't know that I would trust him to *stab* me with a shiv, and not accidentally kill me! If Elliot transfers his loathing of Batman to Batwoman, I think he's gonna be in for a world of hurt from Alice!

RE: Sidekicks - yeah, I'm sure you're correct about there already being enough sidekick candidates. Julia seems the most obvious, to me. If Luke is in the field, who's going to monitor things from the Batcave? But then, I'm sure they showed us the punching bag scene for a reason. ;) Mary just doesn't seem that physical (yet? she did literally tackle Alice, after all, so she has the gumption!). Generally speaking, I do prefer super-teams to individuals, and the CW does like surrounding their heroes with a team. I think they do that in part so they don't work their main actor to death! Given that they are showing us all these previous villains, I'm guessing we'll have a villain team-up that's going to require all heroes on deck. Now that Season 1 has presented the origin story for Batwoman and Alice, I'm thinking Season 2 may focus on the origin stories of the other characters, e.g. Batwing or Hush.

Well, that's a tough topic. Many things doesn't bother me, but the "Mouse becoming the Dr in an asylum" aspect.....would fail on so many points. I do accept that he can make face masks and immitates voices, even that is already....a little "borderline". :D . But impersonating a Dr. for days/weeks...getting rid of his body...fooling the guards and other Dr's....etc.
Often I don't bother with aspects like the truck with the explosives^. And I think that the average episode has less issues like the last one and I am happy who these episodes are written.
Perhaps I was just more sensitve to the "plot hole" topic as I was watching it. :D

There are some cases of vigilantes in real life. I read about some "small" cases over the years. But normally they "just" watch over the neigborhood. Nothing big for the media to showcase. And normally they disappear again quickly.

--- Do you think Alice and Elliot are working together?
I think he wanted her to see that SHIV and wants to get out with her help.
And judging from the trailer, Alice knows something about him. ;)

--- I don't think we will see that fake Batwoman again. There are already 3 bigger candidates for becoming a sidekick in the field. Julia, Luke (Batwing?) and Mary (Flamebird?) are the obvious, big candidates for me.
And I actually hope that they keep the team around her rather small. I don't want it to be like in Arrow where it was Oliver and a whole team of sidekicks/partners. And as much I wanna see Luke evolve in the show....if he becomes Batwing in a suit and flies around (does the CGI budget of the show can achieve that in a good way?)....he could be "overpowered" in comparison to Batwoman.
Batwoman is the star of the show, she should remain in the focus when it comes to fighting crime.

So, a few comments on your comments, and a few thoughts of my own (in no particular order). ;)

Kate & Luke - the garage scene and final office scene were awesome. They've now seen each other at their worst (so far), and know that they can rely on each other. I agree that Kate helped herself by helping Luke, but I think she may have a few residuals (you don't get over PTSD that quickly), but now she has Luke to help her if those panic attacks return. The revelation regarding Batman & Joker leads me to believe that *IF* they bring Bruce onto the show, he will not be suiting up, but act as an advisor to Batwoman.

I LOVED that it was Mary who convinces Kate not to give up on being Batwoman. That scene was so in-character and prefect! And the incidents that Mary mentions of Kate looking after her when they were younger was a nice touch, and gives us more insights into their relationship.

Julia - YAY! She's officially a part of the Bat-team!! WHOO-HOO!! Becoming a Crow was a very logical choice. Hopefully, it's a permanent assignment, and not for a few episodes (like once they get the Crow's nest cleaned out). Now *she* can be the liaison to Batwoman without Sophie jeopardizing her job. I liked Julia's "pep" talk scene. It really shows how comfortable they are with each other. And we finally get to see Kate's place!

Not sure how I feel about Julia and Sophie as a romantic couple. The ex of my ex is my... (girl)friend?!?
And I seem to be the only one who doesn't care for the Kate/Reagan relationship. If the CW follows suit, Kate's girlfriend (wife?) will have to be someone who adds something to the team. So, unless Reagan is working undercover and the bartender gig is her cover, I don't think she'll be around for long. If the comics are any clue, my guess is Safiya will be making an appearance soon, and things are gonna get hot between her and Kate. (okay, you know that I have to throw it out there... is Reagan really Safiya?!?)

Mary & Luke - speaking of relationships, yeah, I think this one is going to be a slow burner, both insisting for a while that they're just friends.

I also liked the fake Batwoman - the girl's got chutzpah! Why do we never hear about masked vigilantes in real life? Hmm... will fake Batwoman return to become the real Batwoman's sidekick?

-- the plot holes --
Batwoman unmasking herself during panic attacks - I think the fact that she unmasks herself in a situation where she could very easily have been found out (TWICE!) is the whole point. It shows us that she's so overwhelmed by the panic attack that she can't think straight. This is how huge an impact killing Cartwright has had on her. I liked the visual effects that they added. I've never had a panic attack, but I can imagine that with the blood pounding in your head, it might very well look/feel like this.

The truck in the parking garage: How did Robles get the truck there? I'm more impressed with how he got a car with an unconscious lawyer duck-taped to the driver's seat parked in a building driveway in broad daylight! Perhaps, it was the Crow's uniform?

Mouse as Dr Butler - I doubt that he and Alice will be setting up residence at Arkham for very long. He only has to fool the guards. It's a tenuous plan, agreed, but more believable given the context than Elliot and the shiv. I mean, how was Elliot able to get away with having the large of a shiv blatantly visible in his tennis shoe without the guards noticing it? And the way he was bouncing around, how did it NOT fall out of that shoe?!? (Just for the record, I really, *really*, **REALLY** hate egomaniacs!) I did love the look on Alice's face when all hell breaks loose in the break room. The irony was priceless!

Overall, yeah, this episode (like all the episodes, actually) is rife with plot holes. But what they lack in solid facts and logical follow-up, they more than make up for in character development and interactions, IMHO. During my role-playing days, it was always the character-driven story-lines that were far more memorable than the dungeon crawls. That's what I love about this show - the plot dictates the action, not the action driving the plot.
