In this topic we can get a little creative!
What storylines would you like to see in future episodes?
You can take storylines from the comics too if you like.
-
I would like to see more of "Jacob VS Batwoman"!
The relationsship between Jacob and Kate/Batwoman is a very interesting plot for me.
He hates Batwoman...but he loves Kate.
He always mentions how much he dislikes Batwoman and what she stand for.
But so far, he doesn't do much about it!
Ok, the Crows show up on some crime scenes where Batwoman often is, but that's about it.
He didn't really try to trap her, to capture her...so far.
Would love to see a fight scene with him and Batwoman (and not only a nightmare from Alice where that happens) where he tries to unmask her. If Jacob would find out who Batwoman is...it would have devastating effects.
Therefore Batwoman must do everything to prevent that from happening.
And that's why I think it would be very interesting to see Jacob trying to capture/unmask Batwoman.

Well, let's see... (I assume you mean different from the ones they've already teased us with?)

I don't know the comic well enough to pick a villain storyline I'd like to see in live action. I'm just thoroughly enjoying the ride so far! :D

That said, Alice becoming Red Alice (who will be the Big Villain, then?!?)

Kate finding her soul mate (and said soulmate NOT dying!) and being happily married thru the end of the show's run. After the shitstorm Kate's been thru this year, she deserves some happiness. What can I say, I'm a hopeless romantic!

Less of a storyline, but I'd like to see more references to the other Arrowverse characters/events, and indeed, other DC characters (Wonder Woman, Fantastic Four (hmm, wouldn't THAT make an interesting series!)). It doesn't have to be full-on crossovers, but just a nod that they exist, like Kara Danver's name on the CatCo cover (they have done it on the other shows), or even a quick cameo. I know this is Batwoman's freshman season, so they are probably NOT referencing them on purpose. But next season, definitely. And, yeah, more crossovers. :D

Speaking of crossovers, some encounters with aliens and meta-humans. Maybe an alien informant that Batwoman saves from being mugged (comic relief?), or something. I mean, all the aliens and meta-humans can't all be living in National City and Central City, right?

RE: Jacob vs Batwoman - remember, they did duke it out in ep#106, after Jacob killed the Executioner (plot hole: how did she get out of that locked courtroom without the Crows nabbing her?!?). I've noticed in a couple of recent episodes, Vesper Fairchild saying that the Crows had apprehended the episode's villain, with no mention of Batwoman, even tho we know she was the one that did all the dirty work. I think Jacob is not vehement about catching Batwoman, because he's too busy right now trying to rebuild the Crows reputation, and he is (grudgingly?) taking credit where it's not due. At some point, Jacob will discover the truth, of course, but it'll likely be another season or three before that happens. Caroline Dries likes lots of personal angst for her characters, and this is prime real estate, so I think you'll get your wish here, Siggi!

Storylines I do *NOT* want to see:

The return of Batman. Seriously. Bruce, okay, but not as Batman.

Kate becoming an alcoholic/drug addict. She's been hitting that bottle pretty hard since Cartwright!

Yeah, Kate surely deserves happiness....the question is if she should get it on a long run;)
I think like with Batman.....a cloud of tragic and bitterness may surround her as well. I don't think it would be good for the show if she had a long-term relationsship where she is happy most of the time.
I like the dark atmosphere and it would be strange for me if she battles some villains at night and then comes back to her beloved for the breakfast. ;) :D
And of course I have to bring up Arrow and Olicity. I don't know how many % think it was a good idea to bring them together like that and... often...very much focus on their relationsship than on crime fighting.
-
Yeah, I would like some more references to other DC characters as well. These easter eggs (like with Joker) always generate interest....
-
Uh, about encounters with aliens and meta-humans. Well, so far the show was pretty much "realistic" in comparison to the other Arrowverse shows. And I think that is a good think. Sure there was the crossover and the new Beth showing up, but besides that that kept it pretty realistic most of the time. I mean even Nocturna wasn't a "real" vampire in the show. I think they should keep the "fantasy" elements to the crossovers when they bring in Supergirl to fight alongside with Batwoman.
-
I do remember the fight between Jacob and Batwoman. But that was long ago. And yeah, the Crows are often busy with other things, but as he really passionately hates vigilantes, I do expect more confrontation between them. I mean that wasn't a planned encounter between them. But yeah, there will be more interactions between them...sooner or later. And I actually do hope that she can preserve that secret for quite a while. I just would like scenes with them where he gets close(r) to uncovering the truth.... scenes where Batwoman can barely escape the Crows.
And regarding the plot hole you mentioned: See, for me... that isn't really a plot hole. After all Batwoman safed his life as the gas flooded the room. It would be pretty normal that he would let her go as a "thank you" for that, even he hates her. Of course they could have shown that on screen....but that would be a explanation that works for me.

Ha-ha! I agree that the dark atmosphere does not lend itself well to happy relationships, but that doesn't mean that no/bad relationships is the only way to ensure character angst. After all, nothing but bad luck gets tedious after a while (oh, look, Kate's found another girlfriend, how many episodes will this one last? Blech!). And I seriously doubt that the woman that Kate ends up with is going to be the sit-at-home-and-wait-for-that-phone-call kind of partner. I mean, look at Sophie and Julia - both very strong women and very capable of taking care of themselves. This woman is going to be an active member of the Bat-team, with all the pitfalls that that entails. ;)

RE: Alien Encounters - you have a really good point there about the "realistic" nature of the show. And you're right, it would change the nature of the show, but I guess I wasn't so much thinking of Batwoman battling a White Martian, as acknowledging that aliens and meta-humans are there in Gotham, and maybe an occasional appearance as a minor character, not the main villain.

It would be pretty normal that he would let her go as a "thank you" for that, even he hates her.
Yes and no. For most people, sure. But for Jacob, I think he's too much of a stickler to the letter of the law. Even tho he had just admitted that he hated the Bat symbol because not blaming it for Gabby and Beth's deaths meant blaming himself, I don't think Jacob would have been so overwhelmed with guilt/shame/emotion that he would have compromised his principles to let Batwoman walk out of the room. Dramatically, it was a good place to end the scene, and they did just have a fight scene, so I understand why they didn't show us what happened next, but , personally, I'm gonna go with Batwoman ducking out the back door to the Judge's chambers while the Crows came in from the main hall.

I would like to see them adapt some of the stuff from the 52, the Crime Bible, and Renee.

Obviously it would have to be adapted to be from Kate's perspective instead of Renee's. And changes to make Kate less of a damsel would be required. They could change the cultists from being werewolves and stuff, to just being human cultists.

It's pretty much where the modern Batwoman was introduced, so some reference to it would be cool. Although the character is much improved from that introduction:

Where she was, although still the vigilante known as Batwoman, rather the more traditionally feminine damsel for Renee to ultimately rescue.

I haven't seen all of the early Kate Kane appearances, but there seemed to have been a pattern back then of her getting abducted and rescued (which extended to DC Universe Online, where players rescued her not only from the cultists in one mission, but also from the Scarecrow in another mission), until things eventually changed for the better.

Fighting her dad is very much of the Tynion run in Detective Comics a few years back.

Up until that point Kate had a pretty good relationship with her father, in the comics. A lot of fans hated how Jacob became an antagonist, and really didn't like how Kate was put in a position to choose between her father or cousin (of course she chose Batman initially).

I thought it was a fun few arcs, but the whole deal of her relatives manipulating her and trying to control her bothered me somewhat. I know they are doing that with Alice on the show, but Alice is a super-villain whereas Jacob and Bruce are not. Oh well, at least she did rebel against them both and then leave, her reaction was a bit too stoic for my taste though.

After all that she goes off on some solo adventures, and later teams-up with Renee (last I've seen of her guest appearances in current continuity she is still teaming with Renee). And still shows-up to Bat-Family events when the whole Bat-Fam needs to make an appearance for whatever reason.

Wish they'd do something with her again in the comics.

I'm waiting for TV Batwoman to get drugged, here is why:

Both solos in the comics have parts where she gets dosed with something, this even happens in DC Universe Online - the character has a history of getting drugged, so they've gotta do it with the TV series. First 'Tec run, an unnamed hallucinogen Alice doses her with. First solo, fear-toxin. Later in the run Wolf-Spider doses her another unnamed hallucinogen. Second solo, enhanced fear-toxin. DC Universe Online, fear-toxin again.

1. I have been all for The World Finest with Supergirl since it was teased on Elseworlds.

2. Red Alice

3. Batwoman meets Oracle.... If Batman killed Joker, as suggested, could the rage driving him to kill Joker have been triggered by killing Catwoman and/or paralyzing Barbara Gordon? If so, maybe Bruce left Gotham to care for Helena Kyle,if she exists in this iteration and Barbara becomes Oracle.

4. More Kate and Reagan... Perhaps Kates finds a way to forgive Reagan. After learning Magpie is Reagan's sister, Kate may better understand Reagan's actions and can move past it. Provided the new actress has chemistry with Reagan.

5. Luke and Mary slowly become an unlikely couple.

I have been hoping the whole Ryan Wilder was a red herring and Dries has now confirmed Kate will not be killed as recently reported by various sites.

What if...

1. Kate is kidnapped by Safiya.
2. Ryan Wilder is introduced and does a faux Batwoman take to go after Scarecrow and Luke and Mary reluctantly works with her while searching for Kate. Maybe Parker too? Hmmm... could Parker be Ryan's way into Team Bat?
3. Julia learns Safiya has Kate. Jacon learns Kate is Batwoman. He, Sophie and Julia team up with Team Bat to rescue Kate.
4. Alice is secretly on their trail to get to Kate first... no way will she let Safiya harm Kate.
5. A recast Kate returns to Gotham and takes back the cowl. Ryan then becomes Earth Prime's version of Robin or Batgirl or Nightwing.
6. The crossover finds Kate and Kal dealing with faux Bruce Wayne and Alice. Wouldn't it be fun to see Lex Luthor team up with with Alice and faux Bruce to take down the Bat and the Kryptonian? A mini legion of doom.
7. Mary and Luke grow closer. Shipping!
8. Reagan and Kate get together to discuss sister troubles (Magpie & Alice) and maybe rekindle their relationship.
9. Jacob comes to terms with his daughters, as best he can... and tries to reconcile
10. Alice/Beth slowly starts her transition to Red Alice.

I think you're asking an awful lot on this one, CatPat! ;)

Here's a thought: Safiyah wants to kill Batwoman (we're not sure why, yet... maybe it's just cuz she's a superhero, or maybe it has to do with Batman's disappearance). She also wants to kill Alice for betraying her. She also wants to kill Julia for betraying her. She also wants to kill Sophie for... huh??? So, in order to protect all of them, Kate fakes Batwoman's death to throw Safiyah off their scent, while Kate goes undercover to find Safiyah (and/or Bruce). A new character will be introduced later in the season, someone we don't recognize, and the cliffhanger will be, that's it's Kate with a new face (and maybe amnesia to explain the different interpretation the new actress will bring to the role)! No elephant in the room, and we get Kate back!

Yeah... that's why I used "best he can" in that one... definitely would be a struggle... lol!

You have Safiyah coming after them all... now that would call for very special casting!!!

I'll settle for 5, 7 and 10 on my wish list!

Some good stroy ideas.... CatPat!
I could see most of these happen.
Will be interesting to see if Safiyah is still in season 2. But it makes sense to have to finally bring her into the show and not only talk about her.
I think it will take at least the bigger part of the season for Kate's return.
As Caroline Dries named it "one of the mysteries of season 2" I think Kate's return will be near the end of the season.
Yeah I know, it's not confirmed that she will return, but as Caroline also spoke of the "surprises"...I'm sure it is one of them.
Perhaps it could be during the Crossover, since that could solve the mystery...even that would be rather early on.

I would like a version where Jacob doesn't realise that Kate is Batwoman. Of course that could only work if he didn't realise that the new Batwoman isn't the "old" one. But with the cowl, the voice modulator and a smiliar appearance...it could be done.
I would just love to see Jacob's face as the (Kate-)Batwoman gets unmasked in front of him one day.

Also I'm verrry curious to see how Natal.. ...ehm....Ryan will fit into all of this. Is her background story with her mother and Scarecrow the real deal? Certainly sounds like a good one to me.
But how will she be connected to the established cast? I guess especially Mary and Luke will be having a hard to time to accept her as the new Batwoman at first. But hey will see the need for a Batwoman in Gotham.

@Siggi

Thanks. Yes, I do really think if Kate returns, it will be at the end of the season. I am thinking the wisdom of Dries may want a gap between Kates, as to lessen comparisons between the two different actresses. Although, I would like her back by the crossover. I still would prefer the new character (Ryan) to have her own alternate identity and not be Batwoman. Although, I can see it providing some moments of levity. If the rumours of Vanessa Morgan being cast are true... she is in the Berlanti family, although apparently not happy with the writing on Riverdale... she is petite. Her in an oversized batsuit could be amusing until Luke can design her a new suit of her own. Morgan is apparently straight irl and engaged to be married. As she is not LGBTQ, I cannot see Dries making her Batwoman as they promised another LGBTQ actress as Batwoman.

We will see. Production may be resuming soon in Vancouver, so I suspect more information is soon to be released.

Will be interesting to see if Safiyah is still in season 2. But it makes sense to have to finally bring her into the show and not only talk about her.
I can see them holding off on bringing in Safiyah for the season 2, mostly because, according to the comic, she and Kate have a relationship. And if the real Batwoman is MIA, then maybe she won't see a reason to surface just yet. But then, if there is another Batwoman, Safiyah may not care who's behind the mask, as long as the vigilante superhero is out of the picture. Hmm....

That would also give another reason for Alice to hang around - without the threat of Safiyah coming after her, there's no point in leaving, when she can reign the city. And depending on how Kate/Batwoman disappears, Alice may want to stay around to find out if Kate's really dead or not.

I'm hoping that because of Kate's disappearance that Julia will stay around a little longer (permanently).

If they go with an actress of Color, like Vanessa, then it's going to be obvious to the citizens of Gotham that she's not the real Batwoman, so, in that, the actress wouldn't necessarily need to be LGBTQ+, since we know that she's not going to be the Batwoman. And WHEN Kate does come back (yeah, I also noticed Caroline didn't explicitly say this, @Siggi), I can see Ryan not wanting to give up the vigilante gig, but knows that she's not cut out to be Batwoman, and so becomes the sidekick.

Production may be resuming soon in Vancouver
Two weeks after my city did a partial reopening of the city, there was a spike in covid cases. Two weeks after Memorial Day weekend, where lots of people went to the lakes and beaches and didn't wear masks, we're seeing another huge spike. And because of the race riots in town earlier this week (a lot of people without masks), there's going to be another spike, and city officials are already talking about shutting down the city again. So, when Vancouver does open, I hope they learn from the mistakes of other cities, and require masks in all gatherings! I think that because of the mismanagement of this whole thing by our current administration, the US is going to be responsible for the resurgence of this pandemic. :(

Covid-19... Same here... we entered Phase 2 of reopen last Friday (Phase 1 was 3 weeks ago) and this week cases are spiking again after a steady decline. Thankfully, the tv/film industry will have more stringent protocols it seems. I hope studios up the fx budgets.

BW... I too think Julia should hang around.

@Siggi

BW... Dries did not say Kate would return, but keeping her alive offscreen is just as bad as killing her imo. Kate needs to be recast and given back her cowl.
