Suggestions for actors and characters in season 2

Yeah, I know, season 1 isn't just over yet, but how about we take a look into season 2?

Which actors and characters woud you like to have in the upcoming season?
Do you want or excpect any changes regarding the actors/characters from season 1?

- I hope that Julia gets promoted to a regular cast member in season 2...if the outcome of season 1 allows that. ;)
- I hope that Alice stays on the shows in season 2, as I heard only rumors so far ...and then she shouldn't be the big villain of the show anymore
- It would be wise, to get famous main villain/villainess character for season 2, if possible an actor/actress that is quite popular through a former TV role, that should bring in his/her fans and the comic fans that like that villain. As long the budget allows it.
- The chances are slim, I know.....but I would love to see Batgirl, Spoiler or Catwoman as a recurring character in the future. Ok, Catwoman is (maybe to) similar to Magpie and Batgirl and Spoiler may not fit in the show....but I would love to see them in this show. As long it is not that new Batgirl from Burnside teeny version with the ugly "hat".
- I think the main cast could use another young man besides Luke. I really don't know which role he would play...but that could generate some more interest in certain "groups".
- Many from the Batwoman villains from the comics have some supernatural touch, they would need to be somehow adapted to the realistic tone of the show like Nocturna. I would like to see "Wolf Spider" and "The Knife" they could work very well in the show, as they don't have special powers if I remember right

Batwoman has been in 4 official Teams, that I know of. I don't count her time with the DEO since that was under duress and they were antagonists in that story arc.

She has also teamed-up for specific missions with Nightwing, Batman, Batgirl, Red Hood, Wonder Woman, Huntress, Blue Bird, Julia Pennyworth, and the Question. No doubt there have been other team-ups, but I don't know them all. Not to forget Flamebird/Hawkfire, Kate's original sidekick.

I'm not sure if that one-off Supergirl team-up comic was cannon for the main universe or not, since I'm only counting Earth-Prime (otherwise it just gets too confusing and she's teamed-up with characters like Harley Quinn and so on).

Azrael (Jean Paul Valley) - former member of both the Gotham Knights, and The Colony
Spoiler (Stephanie Brown) - former member of Gotham Knights
Flamebird/Hawkfire (probably Mary Hamilton, but Bette Kane in the comics) - Batwoman's one and only sidekick
Julia Pennyworth - tech partner during second solo series

I think they might stick with Batwoman's team from the comics, so that would be Batwing and Azrael, and also Flamebird because Flamebird was her sidekick for a while. I suspect Sophie may become the Question.

IMO I don't see Batgirl and Catwoman happening - they'd present the same problem as Batman and steal the spotlight by virtue of being more well known and having a longer media and comics history - which basically ruins the point of it being a Batwoman show. Kate Kane has only been around since 2006, remember, and has barely been used outside of comics until very recently.

I could see Oracle showing-up, that would work. Spoiler could happen, but personally I'm not really a fan, so I'm not bothered if she does or doesn't show-up.

They could do the Religion of Crime, and also bring in Kyle Abbot as an ally, like in the comics - only difference is they would all be human and not werewolves. Also bring in Renee.

I think Alice will be a series regular for a long time. They'd been fools if they let Rachel go! She's way too awesome! I suspect Alice will slowly go from villain to anti-hero as the season's progress, but hopefully, not too fast.

Since she made an appearance in Crisis, I think Huntress would be a good candidate for a guest shot.

They've shown us "the offspring of..." with the Detonator. So, maybe more of the next generation. There's nothing that says they MUST still to the canon of the comics, right? They can create new characters.

Speaking of the comics, does anyone have an idea of how much older Bruce is than Kate? I get the impression that Jacob was probably younger than his sister, Martha. And that much of what's happening in Gotham "now" is well after Batman's heyday (tho perhaps not quite as old as Rock-Bottom Bruce). I have a cousin who's only 4 years younger than my father (biiiiig family), so I know a 20-30 year gap is possible. Maybe it's meant to be vague for a reason?

Yeah, I know that Batgirl and Catwoman are most likely not happen, as to the reasons you mentioned. And also Magpie is pretty similar to Catwoman. I don't know Magpie from the comics, but our TV version here is pretty close to Catwoman. Would be odd, to have another cat burglar in the same show.
And yeah, I think too that they stick most likely to the Batwoman allies from the comics. Let's see what they come up with.

I too think that Rachel should stay on the show. I just think that she shouldn't remain the "main" villain for the whole time, that may become tiring. Perhaps a setup where another villain is the main bad of the season but she still has her battles with Batwoman and Kate.
Huntress is a good idea, question is...is she still alive now? I mean the version that existed on earth prime. There was the huntress on the Arrow show...that might be a problem (like with Maggie Sawyer that was on Supergirl).
Regarding Batman: Hard to say I would say Bruce might be around 10 years older? But I'm no expert.

Speaking of the comics, does anyone have an idea of how much older Bruce is than Kate? I get the impression that Jacob was probably younger than his sister, Martha. In the comics it is never specified, but Bruce looks to be around 2 or 3 years older. In the TV series I would agree with Siggi in that they'd have to be at least 10 years apart, if not more.

When it comes to comics i do know the Batwoman runs, but overall I'm no expert on this.
Perhaps I will read them again while the show is on break.

Well, let's see what they come up in season 2. From the 6 characters you suggested....4 already would be in the show, but would need to evolve to really become these characters (except Julia).
From season 1 ...Catherine is already gone for while....and perhaps Jacob will go as well (slim chance).
I would like to see 1 or 2 new faces in the regular cast in season 2. Perhaps the will come up with an established actor/actress with a fanbase.

Well, that's why I figure they have a high chance of becoming the Gotham Knights, assuming that's the name they give her team if she gets one. ;)

Also, Ragman, like Huntress is unlikely - because Arrow already used them.

With the style of the show so far, all of the monster characters are pretty much out of contention. Which reminds me, I left off Kyle Abbot from the list, and also Agent Chase - she partnered with them during the first solo too.

Wow... lot of information here.


We know we are getting a new Kate/ Batwoman. Two names I like are Katy O'Brian (Black Lightning, Z Nation, Walking Dead) and Sara Serraiocco (Counterpart).
See pictures below.

We now know Hush (Gabriel Mann) will be returning with a new actor as a faux Bruce Wayne (Warren Christie).

We know the Batwoman crossover will be with Superman instead of Supergirl and other Arrowverse characters will appear... Kara is iffy depending if filming conflicts with Melissa Benoist's maternity leave. Please don't be World's Finest... that's for Batwoman/Supergirl... not Superman. I hopes its Superfriends and uses the Hall of Justice introduced on COIE. Maybe Superfriends v Legion of Doom...

I would like to see Alice become Red Alice but not too soon.

I think Kate needs a doberman.

We will see how things pan out in the wash...

But the article as many folks on Twitter and Instagram says that Kate Kane is written off the show.
They all didn't even consider the possibility that she might return after her disappearance.
Yes, Dries said that Kate will be replaced by another character. But that doesn't mean at all that she won't come back.
Seeing the comments on twitter and instagramm....oh boy.
Dries said she started to do that show because of Kate, so why should Kate stay disappeared forever?
I'm sure that her disappearance is a very important story driven aspect.

@Siggi... I know and nobody wants Kate Kane back more than me. I'm have obsessed over it far more than expected.

I am troubled. I dont see how a new star can be brought in with top billing and then be expected to slide back to second billing if Kate returns. That makes me think Kate is not returning and will be kept alive offscreen. Hollywood egos just typically don't work that way... unless Rachel Skarsten moves temporarily to the #1 position and they give the new star a "special billing" at the end of opening credits... such as, " and introducing _____ as _____.

I just wasn't reassured by Dries statement but I totally understand she wants us to be surprised for ourvown good whether we like it or not...lol! No spoilers!

How she does it is her business, but I want some confirmation Kate returns as the one and only BATWOMAN! But, I really like any if these suggestions... but I am partial to a new female Robin. I think Vanessa Morgan, if cast, would look quite cute (and sexy) as Robin. But, Flamebird should be considered. Again, any would be cool, just not Batwoman.

I saw another sote listing Cara Delevingne as yet another possible Batwoman candidate. How many is that? However, she is currently attached to Amazon's Carnival Rowe. I like her fine on Carnival Rowe, but thought she was awful in Suicide Squad. However, I could see her as Rachel Skarsten's sister and she is 5' 8" with blue eyes and LGBTQ.

That is an excellent point! Altho, Caroline also said something to the effect that Ryan may not be the right Batwoman at this time, implying that:
1) she's going to get a lot of kickback from the citizens of Gotham,
2) she doesn't do things the same way as Kate did (perhaps her violent streak will fuel Jacob's determination to stop Batwoman), and
3) her stint as Batwoman will be temporary.
But, as you say, @CatPat, how to go back to 2nd billing... unless they kill her off? Or just make it part of her contract? I have to say, the more I think about it, the more I'm really not liking the idea of having a different Batwoman every season!

The only spoiler I DO want is confirmation that Kate will be back, as Batwoman! With that, then I can live with Kate's disappearance being a mystery to start with, and waiting to find out what happened to her later in the season, as long as they're building on the mystery and giving us clues each episode. It's just not enough for Caroline to say "LGBTQ+ justice is at the very core of what Batwoman is and we have no intention of abandoning that." They built the whole first season around Kate's stance on being out and proud, to do that again with a new character is just a copy-cat.

Since they're starting season two in January, I wonder if it'll be a full 22 episodes (which is what was ordered, before covid hit), or only a half season so they go back to the regular season timing in the Fall?

Okay, brain fart... Alice becomes Batwoman!!! :p ;)

Since they're starting season two in January, I wonder if it'll be a full 22 episodes (which is what was ordered, before covid hit), or only a half season so they go back to the regular season timing in the Fall?


Damn Corona already stole the original season 1 finale, it would be even worse if we wouldn't get a full season 2!

(I don't wanna understate the global impact of that pandemic on the planet with that...just wanna point out the impact that it took/takes on the show)


But, luckily, Mark Pedowitz the president of CW said they were aiming for a full season.
That would mean season 2 would run until June/July.
They also wanna get back to their normal season timing.
That would mean the break between seasons 2 and 3 would be rather short :)
We all deserve that as we now have to wait that long ;)

I think it would be hard NOT to understate it. It's just way too big. I mean, 437,604 people globally have died from this thing - that's nearly half the population of my city! It's... incomprehensible!

But, luckily, Mark Pedowitz the president of CW said they were aiming for a full season.
Good to know. Hopefully, Canada can continue keep a handle on the spread of covid (they're certainly doing a hellova better job than the US!), and actually pull it off.

That would mean season 2 would run until June/July.
So... this time NEXT YEAR, we'll finally find out what happens to Kate! :o :(

Hopefully, we get updates on Batwoman, Kate Kate and other characters new and returning at the just announced DC FanDome event in August which includes the Arrowverse shows.

I am hoping that Rachel Skarsten will temporarily get first billing on Batwoman until the new Kate Kane is [hopefully] cast. The new character should get a special billing, such as, "and introducing ____ as____ or something.

Well, I would say we get some hints before the season even starts. Remember the massive amount of teaser and trailer we got before season 1? Well, maybe they will make a little less now, since it is season 2 now.
However they can't release many trailers without adressing Kate's disappearing.
The big DC Fandome event is on August 22, I expect a teaser and some info then.
And of course in January we should get a better idea what has happened to her.
We should know more when the crossover has aired and should get the full picture when Kate returns. ;)

Well, option 1 and 3 involved Kate getting killed.
They didn't pay much attention lately..... that won't happen.
And the too didn't think about the possibility that Kate will return, so I don't think any of these options will happen.
Some interesting ideas though.
