Ok, so far we know nearly nothing about characters, that are NOT already in the pilot episode.
We know that Batman won't show up....well, and that's pretty much it so far.
-
If you could wish for some characters from Gotham City...which would you like to appear? (more or less reslistic)
I start: I would love to see Catwoman, love her dual good/bad character...and the energy/tension between her and Batwoman...would be interesting :)
And Catwoman/Selina Kyle surely needs a proper appearance on screen as the time ran out for the Gotham show before the character unfolded the full potential.
Batgirl would be great as well...but somehow I can't imagine her as some sort of sidekick to Batwoman. Perhaps for guest appearances when Batwoman needs backup.
As for villains...maybe Black Mask would be very interesting. He surely deserves to show up on the screen finally.

Barbara Gordon is confirmed to exist:
http://batwomantv.com/interview-ep-showrunner-caroline-dries-previews-batwoman/

Already suspected she existed since Oracle has been referenced in Arrowverse before.

Oh, you have read the same interview (I mentioned it a minute ago in the other thread) :D
And yes, she may "exist", but they seemingly don't wanna show her. :(
(more on that in the other thread)

What I would like to see.... Maggie Sawyer alongside Kate Kane. I know she was already brought in on the Supergirl series however, Danvers and Sawyer ended it. Doesn’t mean Sawyer can’t go back to Gotham (she had mentioned she was there previously to Danvers). As such, we haven’t seen Sawyer since, or even heard Sawyer of National City PD being mentioned in any police reports or anything. And if Batwoman isn’t taking place on Earth 38, then, I know it’s stretching it, we could go with... but it’s not THAT Sawyer. I know I’m reaching, it’s just that relationship was a big thing in the 52 and I’d like to see it perpetuated.

Additionally I’d like to see Hawkfire/Firebird/Bette, Bones, and chase from the DEO. Since the DEO was already established in Supergirl, I could see how this may also be complicated, but, I suppose “field offices” aren’t out of the question, again, assuming Batwoman and Supergirl take place on the same Earth.

Villains wise I’ve always been partial to the Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Catwoman group up but I agree, Scarecrow would probably be the most logical choice. Kane did utilize the fear toxin in her arsenal (that she accidentally exposed Sawyer too and then, purposely, herself) and would definitely bring the darker side of Kane’s personality out.

As attached as I am to the old stories though, as Bratty Bat pointed out, I don’t mind seeing the new stories either. I’m excited to see what’s on the back burner for character development and in what direction they take the show. Particularly, if they do utilize some of the established bits such as Sawyer or the DEO, how they handle the crossovers.

Scarecrow sounds like a good idea! He is well known, a strong character and always has interesting appearances (the ones you mentioned +in Gotham, in the Batman video games).
And he could bring Kate's inner demons to life. (that would help to show them to the audience)

I am (pretty) sure that these won't appear (in Ep3):
Joker, Penguin, Riddler (the elite of the villains) - too "big" for a small villain role

I would like to see a villain how didn't have any appearance in TV or a movie yet (excl. animated stuff).
Perhaps Black Mask?

EDIT: As I read on Twitter it will be Thomas Elliot/Hush as the villain in episode 3

Yeah, I am surprised it is Hush because he hasn't had any live-action appearances in big Batman films, and isn't as well known outside of comics. Interesting though, as I don't think any version Kate has actually met him (until ep 3, heh).

Whereas she has a comic/videogame history of facing Scarecrow.

Lots of info from here:
https://twitter.com/BatwomanPodcast/status/1152650554293624832

So Renee cannot be used due to the Birds of Prey film, but might be used in the future. Maggie is unlikely to be used because she was established on a different Earth, which potentially could make things confusing. And it sounds like they are not allowed to use Bruce Wayne for the first season.

They plan to do different takes on villains, coming from a different angle - so as not to repeat old stories, and keep things fresh and exciting. Also, they have no plans to repeat prior Arrowverse villains.

Any guesses as to who the "pretty serious Batman villain" appearing in episode 3 will be?

I'm going to guess Scarecrow, because in the Comics Batwoman had a pretty serious fight with Scarecrow in her second solo run. She also got dosed with Fear-toxin in her original solo (self-inflicted). And, in DC Universe Online, she gets dosed with Fear Gas by Scarecrow there too.

Plus, in Elseworlds she seemed like she knew about the stuff.

Oracle was referenced when Felicity (from Arrow) became Overwatch, and she mentioned that the name Oracle was already taken. Furthermore, I don't want to post potential spoilers, but there is a BTS photo from the filming of the pilot that also suggests the presence of Oracle.

I have a theory that Oracle could be the one who gives Kate the key we see her holding in the trailer, when she enters Wayne Tower and Luke is holding a weapon at her. I think the key relates to her getting access to the Batcave.

Hmh, I missed that BTS photo as it seems. But it sounds like a good idea who it could go in the pilot.
I guess she wouldn't help Batwoman for long, if they use the comics as a template. In these they are not connected. But who knows? They could change that.

^ Nice selection!
I would prefer Batgirl to Oracle, but let's see who we will actually see in the show.

Hey, a response at last! :)
Well, I agree with you, but the question was NOT:
"Which characters can appear...."

it was

"Which characters you WANT to appear..."

;)

*****

In all honesty, it's too early to tell. Pick a a card, any card, with any character on it and it will do fine. If the Joker is your bag, fine. If Killer Croc is your cuppa, fine as well. Ditto for Harley Quinn et al.

As my initial posting said any character could appear and to me, it doesn't matter who actually does show up as long as the story, pacing, plausibility factors (i.e. what can and cannot happen action-wise even with the viewer's suspension of disbelief in full effect) and VFX are up to par.

Other shows have such irksome issues and I can only hope that the Batwoman crew, writers, et al. can minimise the flubs and learn from the other show as to avoid obvious plot holes and pitfalls. But, this being a Berlanti-verse show, expect shortcuts to be taken due to the production turnaround timeframes and filming schedules at play.

Essentially any or all of the characters from the Batman universe could show up. It's just a question of how they will be introduced, which iteration(s) will be used, and how they will be portrayed.

Also, take into account that with the Crisis on Infinite Earths mega crossover slated for the 2019-2020 season, it's likely that all of the characters from the Berlanti-verse (all shows) will appear at one point or another. And, if all Earths are merged into one after the CoIE events, it is likely that there will be occasional various guest character appearances from the Flash, Supergirl, LOT and others.
