Rebirth Synopsis

First of all, anytime that Mary and Ryan have to team up its a golden hour! That being said, its what's bound to happen according to the June 13th episode synopsis titled "Rebirth". Curious who this familiar foe could be? Someone our Ryan Batwoman has faced so far? Someone from the Gotham lexicon of villains that we haven't yet seen on screen? More importantly, will we get answers to our poor Luke who was shot severly at the end of the last new episode? What is in store for Circe Sionis who clearly is disturbed by the undeniable history that she died and her eyes don't match those in photographs. Will Alice, our potential new hero come save the day for Kate Kane? Full synopsis below:

CAN’T LET IT GO – When a familiar foe descends upon Gotham, Batwoman (Javicia Leslie) and Mary (Nicole Kang) find they must rely on each other more than ever. Alice (Rachel Skarsten) has a has a new mission – and gets an unexpected ally to join her. Also starring Dougray Scott, Meagan Tandy and Camrus Johnson. Michael Allowitz directed the episode written by Daniel Thomsen (#216). Original airdate 6/13/2021.

I'm betting that's Desert Rose serum Mary is tinkering with!

That would make a lot of sense, especially if the "familiar foe" Mary and Ryan encounters turns out to be Safiyah.

Hopefully, Circe-Kate is Alice's unexpected Ally.
I'm thinking the "new mission" is to jog Circe-Kate's memory, and the "unexpected ally" is either Jacob (keeping it in the family) or Sophie (does Alice know that Kate and Sophie were together)? Oh! Here's a thought... Ocean told Alice that he was back to get the one Desert Rose plant still in existence... could that cure Kate's fractured psyche?!? At the very least, it would heal her burns... and (inadvertently?) make the "Circe" skin mask permanent?
Actually, Jacob was actually my first thought too... then I thought of Ocean, as he would be "very unlikely" if it was Kate related. Sophie didn't occur to me... but yeah, I can see it. But, Circe-Kate is my "preferred" choice, as I want to see the sisters redefine their relationship, even if Circe-Kate is brainwashed, confused and unconvinced.
I didn't think Circe-Kate was a logical choice at first, since I think the mission IS Circe-Kate, but yeah, now that you mention it, if Circe-Kate is having doubts about being Circe, then Alice is the only one that knows both Kate and Circe, and likely, the only one who believes she's really Kate. And let's not discount the twintution factor!

I definitely want to see to what lengths Alice will go to to get Kate back. Or at least, away from Roman. Maybe she doesn't care if the original Kate is back in her brain, so long as factured-psyche Kate remembers that they're sisters (and finally accepts Alice, having gone thru a fast-track version of what Alice went thru)?

I think Alice will go to the ultimate extremes for Kate. She is her anchor.

Familiar foe... hmmmm? Is Safiyah back?

Yep, that must be Safiyah. Looking forward to what she and Ocean are up to....besides getting that Desert Rose. Safiyah must be also seeking revenge on Alice, which brings up the question if Ocean is even loyal to his "sister" anymore. But perhaps that was part of the plan.
I think he still has some loyalty, because he came back to Gotham in secret to find the last Desert Rose, he even told Safiyah about it, but then, maybe he only did that to find Alice and find out why she chose Kate over him? But Safiyah does not (yet?) know that Ocean and Alice have back their memories of each other (Enigma specifically said that she did what she promised Safiyah she would never do), so the question is, is Ocean's love for Alice stronger than his loyalty to Safiyah? I have no doubt that test it coming!

Hmmm... I wonder if the desert rose is still blooming in the batcave? Perhaps Safiyah is checking on Ocean's progress on retrieving it, which could tie back to the Ryan and Mary familiar foe part.
I hope Ryan thought to put a plant-light on that thing, otherwise, it'll be dead by now without any natural light down in that dark cave! :P Shivaani did say that we had not yet seen the last of Safiyah - I'm guessing there's going to be a trade: the plant for someone's life. Will they be able to use it to save Luke?!?

Maybe the "familiar foe" is Black Mask? He hasn't been very active recently (focused on Circe), which is to say that he hasn't eviscerated anyone in the last couple of episodes - maybe he's ticked off about the zombie batch of snakebite (which has, no doubt, hurt his street cred), and finds out about the last Desert Rose plant?

I thought about wolfspider as well... not sure if he is really a "foe", but definitely has connections to both Mary and Ryan. He had some really cool moves.
Oh, yeah, definitely not a foe, not even a villain, really. Criminal, yes, but I can see a "mutually beneficial" relationship between him and the Bat Team developing in the future. I just liked his character and hope they bring him back. That's the problem with television vs comic books - budget constraints limit who can show up on the splash page!

Looks like Mary gets into some action in the last episodes of the season.
Still 9 more days to go to the next episode... :-|

Safiyah's return seems likely eminent. Mary action would be fun.

There haven't been that many villains-of-the-week this season. Victor Szasz? Kilavolt? Cluemaster? Tavaroff? If it is Safiyah, what reason would she have to come to Gotham herself? So far, she's always sent someone else to take care of business - Tatiana (aka The Whisper) or Ocean. Whatever happened to Wolfspider/Evan? I'd like him to be a recurring character.
