In the end of June, it'll also be the end of Batwoman's second season. From the synopsis which was released by The CW, it sounds like two fronts of battle will happen concurrently and that will result in changing Gotham forever! The first is team Batwoman has to put Black Mask and the False Face Society down for the last time, we hope. Additionally, Team Alice, which is now including Ocean and of all people Jacob Kane will have to face off against Circe who may or may not be remembering her time as Kate Kane. Of course, we'll like getting to see Luke Fox dressed up as Batwing as well! That new costume is amazing! Check out the full synopsis below:
SEASON FINALE - In the Batwoman season finale, Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) questions her place as the city's hero as she, Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), Mary Hamilton (Nicole Kang) and Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy) must join forces when Black Mask (guest star Peter Outerbridge) instigates chaos in the Gotham streets. Meanwhile, Alice's attempt to rescue her sister means another encounter with Circe (guest star Wallis Day). In an epic standoff, unexpected alliances and transformations will upend Gotham as we know it. Holly Dale directed the episode written by Caroline Dries (#218). Original airdate 6/27/21.

Looks like they're gearing up to merge all THREE stories - Black Mask, Safiyah & Tavaroff! What a show-down that's gonna be!!!
Hmm... interesting idea! Now that Tavoroff is unemployed, I can see him taking a job with Black Mask to provide ...private security?... since he obviously doesn't really care about justice.
Yes. Exactly... Again, I appreciated the situation. I'm just not fan of the solution and the apparent finality of it. As I have said before, I would have prefered she put Julia "temporarily" in the batsuit while they searched for Kate. Then possibly have Sophie and Julia alternate in the suit, again temporarily, when Sophie left the Crows. That would have provided time to reintroduce Kate and eventually put her back in the batsuit.
I agree that Ryan should have came into her own role as part of team bat and keep the status quo intact. A Bat Team ensemble with a door open for Kate's eventual return.
But, alas, this is the path taken, so I have my fingers crossed that the next episodes leaves us in an exciting place for a better season 3. I have regained hope that it will do just that. I think Caroline is totally capable of turning things around, but just not sure where she wants the show to go from here. I will have my answer soon enough... so only positive bat vibes from here to the finale.
Yeah that is good question, I can only assume she swiped the keys offscreen. Although, I usually take my keys with me when I travel. But, I do have spare set.
Yeah, I understand why Caroline did what they did, and I actually do appreciate that they chose NOT to do the soap-opera-swap-out (I could'a lived with it if they had), I even like the story they came up with the explain the changes. But I have my suspicions why they created the character of Ryan (and some here would/have accuse me of being racist for saying it). As it is, I think Ryan needs to be her own character, not trying to fill someone else's shoes (or gaudy wig in this case). So, I'm holding out hope that Kate does eventually regain the Batwoman mantle, perhaps by the end of S3. Kate is the Paragon of Courage, after all, she can't just go back to being a billionaire socialite! With production now being normalized around the pandemic, this season has improved during the second half, and with a stable cast as well, S3 has got to be better than S2!
Quoting CatPat: I wholeheartedly second this!
I definitely see a Kate/Alice team-up for next season - not only a path for Kate to get her head on straight, but also a path for Alice to redeem herself and become Red Alice.
Quoting CatPat:
I doubt he will, partly because he's specific to Batman. Also, the fact that they only allude to his name and not say it directly (several times now) suggests a licensing issue with DC.
I've been wondering what Kate's passphrase could be. The passphrase has to be words that's aren't likely to be accidentally said together. What does "Mockingbird anew" have to do with Alice and Ocean's love for each other? Mockingbirds mate for life, so maybe a "love reborn" kind of reference? Enigma told Alice she needed something that was distinctly Kate's, so I doubt the passphrase would be something related to Beth. Maybe, rather, something related to her being a lesbian?
What I want to know is: how did Alice come by Kate's first set of motorcycle keys? Did she just happen to have them in her pocket when she went over the bridge all those many years ago? Did she swipe them (off camera) when she was rummaging around the Kane penthouse apartment last season?
Yes, I have been a fan of Dries for years. That's why I was particularly disappointed in her decision to replace Kate Kane. While I can totally appreciate wanting to put some distance between Ruby and her replacement, taking the batsuit from Kate didn't set well for most Batwoman fans, myself included. To fans, Kate Kane is to Batwoman what Bruce Wayne is to Batman. I could appreciate the situation, but not the solution. I hope she can turn things around with a great finale and promises of a better S3. I am definitely seeing potential for how things move forward from here. I want more Kate, Julia and Wolfspider for S3... and I like the idea of GPD Commissioner Sophie now that the Crows are no more.
